Each year our program Captains select a word or phrase to help manifest their mindset for the season.
Timeline of our Program Manifestations:
🌱 2022, “Roots”, to remind each other that this year is about establishing deep roots that can survive any conditions and grow strong for the future. To remind us that we are building a legacy and the ground work we do will set the tone for many to come.
🌊 2023, “Maka Koa”, a Hawaiian phrase that means Bold, unafraid, fierce. Lit., brave eye. To pay tribute to the Maui Fires and remind our program to have a warrior mindset during our rebuild. To be bold, make mistakes, and try new things. Remind the program to honor the past and what we’ve been through, but to focus on the future.
🌲 2024, “Faith to Grow”, the girls had a historic year last year and confronted an unfamiliar arena - success. They went from a 1-13 record (0-14 consistently before that) to 9-7 and went to playoffs for the first time in school history. Faith to grow reminds us that we’ve set deep roots as underdogs who have fearlessly worked and learned. To stay humble and remind ourselves to have faith in ourselves, our team, our community, and our beliefs. Continue to have the fight of the “underdog”, but to have faith that we can and WILL continue to grow - leave a legacy.
